Dr Amanda Mullin, Clinical Psychologist, Doctor of Clinical Psychology

Dr Amanda Mullin is an Doctor of Clinical Psychology, with extensive and specialist training in Clinical Psychology.  She has worked with a wide range of clients in private practice, and completed specialist training at the Macquarie University Centre for Emotional Health, a world leading research clinic which specialises in understanding the causes of anxiety, and developing highly effective treatments for anxiety disorders. 

Amanda has provided specialist psychological services within the Hills Private Hospital, including the Eating Disorders Inpatient and Outpatient Program, and is an accredited consulting psychologist in a number of private hospitals, including Westmead Private. Her Doctoral training included working with leaders in the field of mental health research in the development and testing of new online treatments for anxiety and depression.

Amanda delivers preventative mental health interventions to a number of schools and organisations, in addition to working one-on-one with clients providing performance coaching and clinical psychology.

With a family of her own, Amanda understands the pressures families can face. She enjoys working with both adults and children, and has a particular interest in holistic health and in the treatment of emotional problems, mood and anxiety disorders, trauma, stress management, sleep problems and ADHD. Amanda's approach draws heavily on the latest discoveries of neuroscience, teaching emotional regulation techniques, as well as working closely with clients to make helpful changes in thinking, and behaviour. She offers a number of gold standard therapies, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness Therapy, EMDR for Trauma, and Solution Focused Therapy.

Amanda works extensively with individuals, groups, and with organisations to provide Executive Coaching services. Amanda established Mindworx Psychology in 2014 to expand the availability of evidence based psychological treatments in the Hills District. She is a popular speaker in Sydney as well asthe Hills District, and works with local organisations to provide education on topics ranging from parenting skills, building resilience, emotional well-being, performance improvement and managing stress in the workplace. 

Amanda sees clients by appointment Monday - Friday, including after hours appointments on Wednesday and Thursday. 


Dr Carmel Harrison, PhD, Clinical Psychologist

Carmel is a Clinical Psychologist who works with adolescents and adults presenting with a wide range of difficulties. Carmel has a wealth of experience in advanced cognitive therapies such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Schema Therapy, allowing her clients to work with unhelpful beliefs which may affect self esteem, mood and relationships with others.

Carmel adapts therapeutic interventions based on the latest scientific evidence to the individual needs of each of her clients. She is experienced in working with clients from a variety of ages who struggle with depression, anxiety, eating disorders, relationship difficulties and who have trauma backgrounds.

With a PhD in binge eating disorder, eating disorders are one of Carmel’s areas of specialism – she has published several research articles in the field of eating disorders, and she recently won an award from the Journal of Eating Disorders for the best research article of 2014. 

In addition to her work with clients in Private Practice, Carmel retains a high level of interest in research and developing new approaches to treatment and understanding of mental health issues.  She has recently begun researching the area of after-care for victims of human trafficking, adding to her understanding of the psychological impact of trauma and abuse on individuals.

Carmel works with clients from all types of backgrounds and belief systems, however she is also able to offer therapy to clients who would specifically like to work with a Christian psychologist.

Carmel sees clients by appointment Monday - Friday, including after hours appointments.


Dr Jamie Scott, Clinical Psychologist, Doctor of Clinical Psychology

Dr Jamie Scott is an Doctor of Clinical Psychology, with extensive and specialist training in Clinical Psychology.  With over twenty years experience and a family of his own, Jamie has worked with a wide range of clients in private practice. With specialist training at the Macquarie University Centre for Emotional Health, a world leading research clinic which specialises in understanding the causes of anxiety, and developing highly effective treatments for anxiety disorders, anxiety remains one of Jamie's special areas of interest. He is passionate about treating childhood anxiety and early intervention.

Jamie works extensively with families, and is well regarded in the field of trauma, working closely with children and adult survivors of abuse and trauma, in addition to his work with anxiety and low mood.

Jamie is trained in numerous gold standard therapies, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness Therapy,  and Solution Focused Therapies. He works with Dr Amanda Mullin to provide Executive Coaching services for clients from all walks of life.

Compassionate, friendly and approachable, Jamie is also  well-known locally for his excellent work with the Hillsong Ministry. He sees clients by appointment weekdays only.


Anica Spatz, Registered Psychologist

Anica is a highly regarded and Medicare registered Psychologist, with many years of experience in delivering clinical interventions. She is an empathic and dedicated professional with extensive clinical training in a number of gold standard therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Interpersonal Therapy (IPT).

Working together with her clients, Anica’s approach is collaborative, allowing her to select the best suited therapeutic intervention based on the scientific evidence and the individual needs of her clients. With a family of her own, Anica understands the pressures faced by families. She has worked extensively with adults, adolescents and children across a number of settings, including hospitals and community mental health services, as well as with organisations to enhance wellbeing.

Anica is comfortable working with clients presenting with a wide range of psychological concerns, including perinatal issues, trauma, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, personality disorders, psychotic disorders, substance use and grief & loss issues. Anica also provides psychometric testing for children, adults and adolescents.

Anica sees clients by appointment Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. 


Shona Stewart, Registered Psychologist & Relationship Counsellor

Shona is a Registered Psychologist, with over 20 years experience in working with children, adolescents and adults, including individual therapy and relationship counselling. Shona is well regarded in her provision of marriage and relationship counselling for a wide range of relationship issues andfamily counselling.

In addition to specialised relationship counselling, Shona has extensive skills in the provision of services related to academic achievement and school outcomes, having worked within the school counselling system for many years providing psychological services to both students and staff members.

Shona can provide psychometric testing for giftedness or learning difficulties as well as help with psychological problems such as oppositional behaviour, ADHD, anxiety, low mood and behavioural problems.

Shona is both Medicare and WorkCover registered, she sees clients both privately and via referral.

Shona sees clients by appointment, on Thursdays and Fridays, including after hours appointments.


Emma Lightfoot, Registered Psychologist

Emma Lightfoot is a Registered Psychologist with 15 years of experience working across the lifespan in both community mental health and private settings. She has extensive experience in both individual and group work.

Emma enjoys working with a wide range of presentations such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, personality disorders, emotional difficulties and histories of trauma.  A qualified Exercise professional, Emma also offers consultations in relation to motivation, goal setting and exercise adherence.

Emma has extensive training in a number of therapies including Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy.

Emma has a particular interest in early intervention and enjoys working with children, adolescents and families. With a family of her own Emma is well aware of the stressors involved with parenting and is trained in Circle of Security, Tuning into Kids and Emotion Coaching. She works with school communities to educate staff and parents on emotion coaching children.

Emma sees clients by appointment on Thursdays, and is fully registered with Medicare.


Mariana Ricci, Registered Psychologist

Mariana is an experienced Registered Psychologist with over 7 years of clinical experience in working with children, adolescents and adults, including five years of clinical training in public hospital, where she worked with patients belonging to a wide variety of cultural and social environments.

Mariana has training in several evidence based therapies including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). In addition, she has a passionate interest in psychodynamic therapies, which includes the completion of a three-year post-graduate course in Psychoanalysis. Mariana has lived and worked in the USA, and during this time she completed extensive training in Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) which allows her to successfully apply this approach with children.

Caring and compassionate, Mariana adopts a unique combined and complementary approach, using all her knowledge to provide the best treatments to reach each of her client’s individual needs. Mariana works with clients presenting a wide range of psychological issues, including anxiety, depression, relationship issues, personality disorders, bipolar disorders, trauma and grief and loss. Mariana is bilingual and she is also providing therapies in Spanish.

Mariana is passionate about Psychology and she strongly believes that psychological health is as important as physical health. She acknowledges that psychological injuries can impact our lives substantially and should not be ignored. In line with Mindworx Psychology's founding principles, Mariana believes in teaching proven techniques for clients to improve their wellbeing and relationships, leading to a happier life.

Ross Leonard, Registered Psychologist

Ross is an experienced psychologist with extensive training both nationally and internationally over past 16 years in the use of evidence-based therapies such as Psychobiological Approach to Couple Therapy (PACT), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Dialectic Behavioural Therapy (DBT).

Primarily focused on working with adults and adolescents, Ross has a special interest in working with anxiety and mood issues, trauma, ADHD, and conflict management. Ross also has a keen interest and expertise inrelationship counselling.

RELATIONSHIP COUNSELLING- His training in PACT (Psychobiological Approach to Couple Therapy) allows Ross to focus on the underlying dynamics of human relationships - including attachment and arousal. Supported by the latest cutting edge research on the neurobiology of the brain, this relatively recent therapy has already made a significant impact on both couple’s and individuals quality of life.

Ross was a serving police officer when he commenced his studies and training as a psychologist. His police experience as a uniformed, plain clothes and crime scene officer have given Ross an insight into many facets of human behaviour ensuring a non-judgemental, compassionate approach to anyone he works with. As part of his career path, he spent 8 years lecturing to Masters students at UWS on forensic and investigative psychology. Additionally he gathered over 12 years experience providing specialist help across Post Traumatic Stress, Mood & Anxiety Disorders, Domestic Violence and Anger Management services.

With a family of his own, Ross now primarily works in Private Practice. Passionate about making a difference, Ross continues to frequently fly out to rural & remote areas in NSW & Australia, delivering therapy and education to indigenous and non-indigenous populations.

Ross sees clients by appointment on Mondays, and on other days by prior arrangement.


Dr Evelyn Howe, Clinical Psychologist

Dr Evelyn Howe is a clinical psychologist with specialist skills in health psychology and ante/post natal counselling. She works with clients experiencing difficulties in adjusting to change or transition in their lives as a result of illness, accident, ageing, injury or stressful life circumstances.

As an expert in her field, Evelyn holds the position of Senior Research Fellow with the University of Sydney, where she has taught for many years. Evelyn is a consultant clinical psychologist for a number of leading health services, private hospitals and the Australian Defence Force. Currently, Evelyn works both privately and within multidisciplinary rehabilitation teams treating the psychological effects of medical conditions. These can include anxiety reactions, depression, confusion, acute and chronic pain and severe stress. In addition, Evelyn has a wealth of experience in the managing the behavioural aspects of dental and orofacial conditions, eating and sleep disorders, trauma, loss and grief.

Mindworx Psychology Therapy Dog

BAXTER, Mindworx Psychology Therapy Dog

Our smallest team member. Baxter is our therapy dog. He has been extensively tested to make sure he won't trigger allergies, and is completing his training.

Baxter visits the Practice on demand, and as a therapy companion we are delighted to have him on board. Baxter loves nothing more than a tummy rub, and has proven himself at a young age to have excellent skills at sleeping, and making himself available to be patted by clients.

If you'd like to see Baxter on your visit let us know. Baxter currently only attends adult/adolescent sessions. Should anyone in your party have a fear of dogs or any risk of allergic reaction to dogs, please let us know. Baxter is a small spaniel X toy poodle.
