Dr Carol Newall MAPS, FCCLP is passionate about cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and the successful treatment of anxiety disorders for adults and anxiety treatments for children. She has a special interest in behavioural problems in children and teenagers including oppositional defiance or ODD: oppositional defiant disorder. She also has a special interest in selective mutism and childhood refusal to speak. A lecturer in early childhood at Macquarie University, Dr Carol is highly regarded in the field for her research into child development, anxiety disorders and parenting.
While she enjoys working with children, adults and families with a range of issues, Carol has a strong background and deep interest which lies across the spectrum of anxiety disorders. She enjoys working with clients across the lifespan to provide a gold-standard, evidence based intervention, guided by the latest research.

Dr Carol has presented her research at international conferences and publishes in prestigious peer-reviewed clinical journals. She has a particular preference for cognitive and behavioural interventions (Cognitive behavioural therapy or CBT), and is the go-to at Mindworx Psychology due to her depth of knowledge in this research space. She is also our go-to for selective mutism treatments and oppositional defiance disorders, with a deep understanding of treatments and their effectiveness in this space.
Dedicated, warm, and knowledgeable, Dr Carol Newall brings her own experiences as a mother to the therapy room. In combination with her research knowledge of both child development and clinical psychology and her passion for behavioural change, Carol brings a wide base of practice for her clients.
