Amber Abbott, Clinical Psychologist
Amber Abbott is an experienced clinical psychologist and brings a gentle and warm approach to helping clients understand and overcome their challenges. With over 17 years of experience, Amber has enjoyed working as a Psychologist with a diverse range of adult clients and running group therapy programs. She has worked with a wide range of clients, in a range of settings including community mental health, private inpatient psychiatric hospitals, outpatient group therapy, and in private practice. Amber has also enjoyed working on various multidisciplinary teams assisting people effectively cope with the mental and emotional impacts of living with chronic health conditions including cardiovascular disease, pulmonary disease, and Parkinson’s Disease. Her approach as a Psychologist is collaborative and solution focused.
With training in a number of evidence-based therapies, Amber offers a range of psychological therapies including Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). Helping client with low mood or mood disorders, anxiety, grief and loss, or other challenges, Amber believes that the best springboard for meaningful change is first accepting yourself as you are. Therefore, when needed she weaves strategies for self-compassion and mindfulness through her approach to helping clients achieve their goals and overcome life’s hurdles.

Amber has a Master of Psychology (Clinical) degree, awarded by the University of Newcastle in 2006. She has completed specific training in the neuroscience of depression and anxiety, and draws on this growing body of research in her clinical practice. Amber is fascinated by neuroplasticity and the capacity of the brain to rewire itself over the lifetime, and she believes in every client’s capacity for change.
Amber sees clients on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays by appointment via telehealth and face to face at our Practice in Baulkham Hills, NSW.
Amber has completed the Australian Governments Covid-19 infection control training and employs strict hygiene and physical distancing measures for face-to-face work.
