Lara is a friendly and down-to-earth Clinical Psychology Registrar, who creates a safe and supportive space for her clients. Her approach is collaborative, gentle and non-judgemental.
She believes in using evidence-based therapy that is dynamic and tailored to each individual or family.
Lara works with children, adolescents and adults. She is passionate about working with individuals who struggle with anxiety, low mood, intense or fluctuating emotions, and with self-harm.
Prior to joining Mindworx Psychology, Lara provided therapy to clients at Cumberland Hospital, working in the assessment and treatment of personality disorders, trauma informed therapy, complex trauma, self-harm and acute suicidality.
Lara has also worked with parents to support children presenting with conduct disorders, oppositional defiance and other behavioural challenges. Through her prior work as an intensive behavioural intervention therapist, she gained experience working with autism, teaching language, play, and social skills.
Lara has special interests in the following areas:
Lara’s treatment approaches include Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Parent Management Training (PMT) for Child Conduct Problems. She also draws upon mindfulness-based skills, as well as Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT).
Lara is a member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS) and is registered with Medicare. She sees clients by appointment Monday to Friday.
