Ziting Gao, Clinical Psychologist
Ziting Gao, Clinical Psychologist
Ziting is a Clinical Psychologist, and EMDR therapist, who works with both children and adults, with particular interests in neurodivergence, trauma, interpersonal relationships, and recurring emotional and behavioural patterns that can leave people feeling stuck in life.
Ziting is an experienced Clinical Psychologist with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Dickinson College (U.S.), a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology (Honours) from The University of Queensland, and a Master of Clinical Psychology from Western Sydney University.
He has a particular interest in helping clients recognise recurring relational and emotional patterns that may resurface through different stages of life. Unaddressed struggles can often repeat themselves over time, and Ziting enjoys working with clients to better understand these patterns, make sense of their experiences, and become the “chain breaker” within their own lives and relationships. This enables clients to develop greater insight, self-understanding, and the confidence to navigate life’s challenges more effectively.
Clients often appreciate Ziting’s calm, thoughtful, and deeply attentive style. His therapeutic style emphasises careful assessment, collaborative relationships, and developing solution focused plans that are tailored to each client’s individual goals, experiences, and needs. He values having a clear direction in therapy while also making space for what clients bring into the room each session.
Clients from a range of cultural backgrounds often appreciate Ziting’s ability to adapt therapy to their individual values, communication styles, and lived experiences. He enjoys building strong and trusting therapeutic relationships, and believes lasting change often occurs when people feel genuinely understood, emotionally safe, and able to explore difficult experiences without judgement. Alongside deeper therapeutic work, Ziting delights in using humour naturally in therapy and in celebrating his clients’ achievements, growth, and important milestones along the way.
Ziting brings expertise in the assessment and treatment of ADHD and Autism across the lifespan, and takes a thoughtful, neuroaffirming approach that focuses on helping clients better understand their strengths, needs, and the environments in which they can thrive, leaving clients with a clearer understanding of themselves, rather than simply a label.
Outside of work, Ziting enjoys strength training, basketball, frisbee, hiking, reading, and writing fiction. He also has a large Maine Coon cat named Lúthien, and always welcomes clients sharing photos of their pets.
Bilingual, Ziting is able to offer therapy in both English and Mandarin.
